This community partnership initiative invites a cross section of the community to participate in a Community Preparedness Workgroup discussion to generate ideas and information on how to assist communities in becoming more resilient during emergencies and disasters. The goal is to increase the overall number of individuals, families, and communities’ involvement in preparedness actions at home, work, business, school, and places of worship.
The National Coalition for the Homeless is a national network of people who are currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, activists and advocates, community-based and faith-based service providers, and others committed to a single mission: To end and prevent homelessness while ensuring the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness are met and their civil rights are respected and protected.

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. HUD requires that CoCs conduct an annual count of people experiencing homelessness who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night.
More than a million people in Pennsylvania are hungry because they cannot afford or do not have access to healthy food. For some, food insecurity is a matter of financial need. But often, entire communities are cut off from proper nutrition because there are no grocery stores nearby. These so-called "food deserts" are not the only challenge. Some neighborhoods have turned into "food swamps" - places dominated by fast-food restaurants. Further, isolation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has made matters worse.
